One to One Mentoring

Big Brothers Mentoring

The Big Brothers mentoring program provides boys and those who identify as male with a role model to talk to and share the experiences of growing up with. Through regular outings, a relationship is developed between the mentor and the mentee, which is built on trust and common interests, and is supported by our experienced mentoring coordinators. The result is a life-changing experience for both the mentor and the mentee.

The Big Brothers mentoring program usually requires a minimum of two regularly scheduled outings a month of a few hours each and a minimum of a one year commitment.

In-School Mentoring

Spend one hour a week during the school year with a child doing non-academic activities at their school. Be someone they can talk to and learn from – sharing interests with them, encouraging them, building on their strengths, all of which can lead to improved self-esteem and more positive outlook on their life.

Mentors enjoy playing board games, doing arts and crafts, reading, shooting hoops in the gym and having lunch together. Want to find out more? Contact Terri-Lynn or inquire today!

Between Generations mentoring

A variation on the traditional one-to-one program, Between Generations matches a mentor with a young person in the community or in school. For just a few hours a month, the Between Generations program targets early retirees or those in the 55+ community for volunteer mentorship positions and enrolls children who need the support and friendship that the Mentor can provide. PRISM Mentoring

PRISM (Pride, Respect, Identity, Safety, and Mentoring) is a mentoring program for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.  As part of PRISM, young people who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+ and would like a mentor who is also 2SLGBTIA+ are connected with an adult mentor who also identifies as 2SLGBTQIA+ for a one-on-one mentoring relationship.  BBBS Mentoring is based on the Developmental Relationships Framework conceptualized by the Search Institute, a leader in positive youth development, and focuses on ensuring that all young people who participate in BBBS programs have developmental relationships. Developmental Relationships are close connections that foster young peoples’ ability to discover who they are, cultivate their abilities, shape their own lives and learn how to engage with and contribute to the world around them.
